6 FREE Online Quizzes and Tests for Self-Discovery

If you’re a millennial like me (or honestly anyone on the internet!), you’ve taken those silly Buzzfeed quizzes like “Make A Salad and We’ll Tell You the Name of Your Soulmate”. Have you ever wanted to dive a little bit deeper and really find out some important things about yourself? Check out these 6 FREE online quizzes and tests for self-discovery. I’ve personally taken all 6 of them 🙂 I’ve also included some links to books that provide even more information about these tests and quizzes, and their results.

The Five Love Languages

The Five Love Languages will give you an analysis on your emotional communication style and will single your specific love language. It will also give you information on what your love language means and how you can use it to develop and strength your relationships with your loved ones. The languages will be ranked, with your primary love language at the top. The five love languages are: Words of Affirmation (mine!), Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. It only takes 15 minutes!

16Personalities

The 16Personalities Test is a form of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. It measures your personality type across a spectrum of different characteristics:

Introversion – Extroversion

Observant – Intuitive

Thinking – Feeling

Judging – Prospecting

They also provide an Identity (Assertive – Turbulent)

My personality type is an INFP -A or Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Prospecting – Assertive. They call it the Mediator and it is in the Diplomat group.

Here is a quote from their website, “Mediators have a talent for self-expression, revealing their beauty and their secrets through metaphors and fictional characters.”

The Enneagram Test

The Enneagram Test is also another way for you to test your personality. For the Enneagram Test, there are 9 different personalities types. People that have the same type of personality have similar characteristics, though you can have characteristics in any of the 9 different personalities. There are also 3 different subtypes called Instinctual Variants (self-preservation instinct, sexual, and social).

For this test, I am Type 9 – The Peacemaker with a Type 1 (The Reformer) wing (meaning that I have many traits in this type too) and the Self-Preservation instinct variant.

VIA Character Strengths

The VIA Institute on Character allows people to take their Character Strengths Inventory completely free. This inventory identifies your character profile through numerous questions that asks about character strengths in the following categories: Wisdom, Courage, Humanity, Justice, Temperance, and Transcendence.

My top three character strengths were Fairness, Honesty, and Forgiveness.

The VIA Institute also has reports, courses, and coaching available (for a fee), if you’d like to dive even deeper into your character strengths.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage (influence) our own emotions and the emotions of others. This quiz on emotional intelligence will describe situations that you may find yourself in and will provide you with an assessment of your emotional intelligence. It will also provide you with recommendations on how you can enhance and improve your emotional intelligence.

The test is very simple and only takes a few minutes. I got High Emotional Intelligence.

Visual DNA

Not big on reading, but love pictures? VisualDNA Who Am I? or Personality quiz is for you. VisualDNA are visual quizzes that will take a look into attitudes, values, actions, and behaviors. After taking the quizzes you’ll get a summary of your personality as well as a recommendation for books that will help you learn more about yourself in a variety of different ways. Over 40 million people have taken the VisualDNA quiz so far! They also have multiple other quizzes that you can take.

I got the “Stargazer” as my result with a high percentage in Openness and Agreeableness for the Who Am I quiz and a “Seeker” for the personality quiz. Below are two books that were recommended to me.
