Like millions of other people, I have anxiety. Having good coping skills is essential to being able to live comfortably and thrive as someone living with anxiety. People have all sorts of different coping skills from using grounding exercises to deep breathing.

I talked about some of my favorite stress and anxiety-relieving activities here. I’ve often referred people to different calming websites to help that ease their anxiety and I thought I would share some of those websites with you. By the way, all of these stress relief websites are free to use.

7 Cups of Tea

This calming website is a bit different than the rest of the ones on this list. 7 Cups of Tea allows you to speak with a trained listener who will support you while you are expressing your thoughts to them.

Pro Tip: This is not a crisis service and you should NOT use this if you are feeling suicidal (text Hello to 741741 to be connected to a crisis counselor from Crisis Text Line if you are) and is NOT a replacement for therapy.

Pixel Thoughts

Pixel Thoughts in a 60 – second meditation website. You can enter the thoughts that you are worried about and it will guide you through a meditation.

Pro Tip: Make sure you have your sound on for this one. The background music is very relaxing.

If you’re looking for even more support with coping with mental health issues, check out my workbook, I’ve Got This! It’s a mini-workbook on coping with mental health issues and includes multiple worksheets to help you with taking steps forward in your mental health journey. Check out the I’ve Got This!, here!

WeaveSilk

WeaveSilk is a very simple website where you get to create your own multi-colored geometric pictures. I personally love WeaveSilk because the colors are so vibrant and there are so many different controls and symmetries that you can play with.

Rainy Mood

Rainy Mood is great to put on when you need background noise for what ever you are doing: sleeping, homework, meditating…the possibilities are endless. The sound of rain can be incredibly relaxing for a lot of people. If you’re on of those people, you should definitely check it out.

QuietKit

QuietKit provides guided meditations that are especially suitable for people who are just beginning in their meditation journey. I would have loved something like this when I first tried meditation back when I was in graduate school. Each meditation offered is between 2 and 10 minutes.

NeonFlames

Neon Flames is similar to WeaveSilk but instead of geometric type images, you get to spend time creating (what I think looks like) galaxies or colored smoke.

Pro Tip: If you want the colors to show up a bit brighter, hold down your mouse over the area for a few seconds.

If you want to make self-care a priority in 2020, Self-Care Mini Bundle is perfect! Learn more about this bundle of self-care resources that will leave you feeling healthier and happier.

Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice

The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice is run through Bangor University in Bangor, Wales. Their website has over 50 different mindfulness audio clips that you can download and listen to on the go. They include meditations for body scans, stretching and breathing, yoga, and many more.
